Detecting debugger connection on target

Is is possible for the software running on the target to detect that the debugger is connected? We are using a 2809 processor and need to program some calibration values in external NVM but don't want the values to be writable when the debugger is not connected.

I don't think C2000 mcus have that feature of detecting whether emulator is connected or not.

Thanks for the quick response.

I was hoping for a different answer but from all the literature that I looked at it didn't look like there is any way to do this.
