Hi,

We are currently using the TMS320F28335 microcontroller for controlling a 3 level Medium Voltage NPC Inverter.

The currently used Control method is Scalar v/f

6*2 IGBTs are controlled by Epwm. (6 ePWMs + 6 inversed with Dead Time)

We like to change the v/f method to Vector control using your InstaSpin FOC or InstaSpin Motion.

Is it practical to add TMS320F2806xF or TMS320F2806xM, leaving the TMS320F28335 and the SVPWM more or less as is?

Any relevant Application Note?

Yoram,

The InstaSPIN solution doesn't support the modulation for a 3 level inverter, it only as sampling/modulation for standard 3-ph inverter.

BUT, from an algorithm standpoint FAST certainly will work with this motor and provide accurate estimations....we would just need to get the phase voltages and currents from the system...

I'm going to send this to a consultant who is working with InstaSPIN on advanced topics...he may be able to comment and perhaps offer some insight or consultation.

I honestly don't recall and can't find it archived in my emails from last fall. Let me reach out to him again. He teaches an InstaSPIN workshop (next is in Germany in July) and has a book on the topic.

Hello Chris
I am currently using F28335 for controlling a really 3-level Meduim Voltage NPC inverter by Sensorless Vector Control. Then also using Auto tuning of Induction motor (560kW, 3300V, 111A).
I want discuss with Chris about DSP F28335 more.
