SCI (UART booting)

Hello!

The USB-Docking Station R3 (F28035 Piccolo Experimenter's Kit) has a USB serial bridge and a USB JTAG . I'm able to use both connections together. But for testing the SCI booting I would like to use only the USB Serial Bridge (TRSTn low). Is this possible?

Or do I have to use a second cable?
I this case I have to hold the FTDI 2232D with J8 in reset and open J9. Then I am able to connect a serial cable to RX and TX. Is this correct? This is a little bit more complicated, since I don’t have a RS232. I need an additional USB serial bride.

  • Tom,

What you've mentioned is all correct and seems feasible.

The other option is to cut some traces (potentially just TRSTn), but this isn't nearly as undo-able if you plan on going back and forth between debugging and testing from a cold boot.

    Good luck!

    Thank you,
    Brett
