TMDXCNCD28377D pin out mapping

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

All the 12 ePWM modules of TMX320F28075 are not mapped with the control card TMDXCNCD28377D as mentioned in the C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\TMDSCNCD28377D_v1_2\R1_1\TMDSCNCD28377D_180cCARD_pinout_R1_1.pdf document. On;y 8 ePWM modules are shown in the document.

My question is whether I can use this control card TMDXCNCD28377D with docking station TMDXDOCK28377D to generate 24 PWM signals?  Otherwise how many PWM signals I can physically access from this docking station. At this moment I need total 18 PWM signals.

Thanks

Shambhu

  • Hi Shambhu,

The 'HSEC function' column corresponds to the functions that we plan to have at a "HSEC pin" on all HSEC-based controlCARDs going forward.  So this column is to tell the customer what the standard is.

For example, on the F28075 controlCARD, the right way to read an item is:
HSEC pin 50 should be able to output PWM3A according to the controlCARD standard.  On this particular controlCARD, HSEC pin 50 will be tied to GPIO-04.  It however does not mean that this pin only can output PWM3A.  If you take a look at the F28075 datasheet, you can see that GPIO-04 can also tie to OUTPUTXBAR3 and CANTXA (see table 4-3 in the F2807x datasheet).

(as a result, I think you'll find that you can get more ePWM PWM outputs out of the chip than you currently think)

Several weeks ago we actually received similar feedback.  We plan to document the meaning of these columns better in the next release of controlSUITE.

Hopefully the above makes things more clear.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am sorry for the mistake that actually I wanted to ask the question for F28377D controlCARD instead of F28075 controlCARD. However I got the meaning for 180cCARD pin out mapping. Though only one function is mentioned all the other functionality are accessible using MUX registers.
