Using Instaspin foc wihtout DRV8301 etc.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

Hello.

I am planning to build a custom BLDC controller using Instaspin FOC. I'm planning to use F28067F MCU and I would like to use gate driver optocouplers instead of gate driver IC like DRV8301. So I do not use SPI interface, but PWM output from MCU. How much more difficult is it to use Instaspin foc with such configuration?

Thank you.

  • norman,
the SPI is just used to configure the DRV8301. The F28027F ( I assume that's what you mean) still outputs the PWM signals to the DRV8301 device. This of course can go through optocouplers to a discrete gate driver. And I assume you are isolating the voltage and current signals from the inverter, so you will just have to manage those as well.
