Hi Team,

I am wondering if programming half of flash memory is possible while the other half of the flash image is actively running?

Lets say I have 512k Flash memory. If i can make the flash space into 2 sectors of 256 k each. If one half of the flash code is in run mode (actively running an image), can i erase the other half and program that with a new image?

Hi,

Did you check the Flash API ? You can navigate to C:\ti\controlSUITE\libs\utilities\flash_api
for more info. Select the device and check out the Doc folder.

Hi Rambabu,

Reads/fetches from a flash bank are not allowed when part of that flash bank is being erased/programmed.

Hello,

As I know if you want to program one sector of flash, the other sectors will be undisturbed. So I think what you mentioned is possible to do. Update: Sorry, Vamsi has mentioned that it is not possible.

But you cannot divide the sector just like that. Please see the MCU datasheet about flash sectors, for example:

Thanks a lot and greatly appreciate your prompt response.
If we can load the instructions on to RAM from FLASH during boot up and getting the instructions running on RAM and load new instructions on FLASH.
