LVCMOS LVTTL conflict in Memory example in TMS320F28377S technical manual

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377S

Why does the TMS320F28377S technical manual list a device in section 23.4.1 that has a LVTTL interface but the SDRAM section 23.1.2.2 states that 3.3V LVCMOS interface is supported.

Is there a guide or application note that explains what interfaces work with the 3.3V LVCMOS?

Does the memory have to be a 3.3V memory?

Thanks,

Jason

  • Possible answer, pleas confirm:
Check that the memory and F28377 input/output levels match up to each others requirements listed in the datasheet.
3.3V is for single data rate (SDR) DRAM which may work with 5V levels and 2.5V levels, but since my application requires protection against EMI then Im sticking with 3.3V or the SDR DRAM.
The general question of will 3.3V LVCMOS always working with 3.3V LVTTL is still open.
    Thanks,
    Jason
  • Hi Jason,

Check that the memory and F28377 input/output levels match up to each others requirements listed in the datasheet.

You are right. User need to select the memory part after matching the input/output levels.

The general question of will 3.3V LVCMOS always working with 3.3V LVTTL is still open.

I have not checked all the memory parts but I have used another part from Micron (MT48LC4M32B2 - 32bit) which matches the input/output level with this device and it works fine.
