Hall effect current sensor selection

Are open-loop sensors sufficient for use with InstaSPIN or are closed-loop sensors recommended? Other than current range and voltage scaling, are there any other parameters that should be paid close attention when selecting current sensors for InstaSPIN FOC?

I don't understand the open-looop / closed - loop sensor question.
All the hall based phase current sense options should be fine, as you said just look at the range. Don't use 800A range sensors with your 20A motor (as I saw people try to do).

SPRUHJ1 Chapter 17 has some discussion on current sense, but primarily related to shunt measurements.

I think all of the sensors I've seen mentioned are open-loop.

I'm going to play with the Allegro sensors like ACS758, ACS759, and ACS770LCB.

those should work. We use LEM when we can.
