I am working through Instaspin FOC with launchxl-F280869M, BOOSTXL-DRV8301 revB.
I am having some critical issues with the motor identification step in Lab2B and its causing me to damage the booster pack. Lab2B has a pretty high tendency to fail with an error, or it can complete the process but with bad data that actually wont spin the motor at all or very poorly, with high pitch noise either way. The process also makes both the motor, the chip on the booster-pack, and especially the three capacitors on the booster very hot. I damaged the boosterpacks when I repeated lab2b too soon after a fail. There is no visible damage, but the board now draws full current the moment its plugged in, and no LED's light up. launchpad thought is fine.
I actually did successfully complete Lab2b just once, got excellent reading, and completed the rest of the labs without issues. The motor ran smoothly and quietly. Unforutunately I accidentally deleted the header files when I was trying to make my own ccs project, but that's another issue.
So i went back to lab2b to get the readings again, but busted the 2nd booster. Now I'm waiting for two new ones to come in the mail. As a side note, can I have these replaced unless i am doing something clearly wrong?
The user header files were untouched except for identifying J1, creating my_motor with mostly NULL values where directed. As max current I had 8, est currents as 4 and -4, est freq 20.
additional setup info:
Motor: Scorpion S-4025-12. (in user header, max amp is 8, initial amp is 4 and -4.)
Variable power supply: Ranging between 12V and 20V, 5amp and 8amp
Jumpers 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 open. 3, 7 on
swithches 1, 2, 3 all up
Thanks
PS and im sure you get this asked a lot, but when do you foresee publishing a two motor example aside from vaguely this summer?
