Hi,

I would like to preserve some RAM contents after Soft Reset.

I am using watchdog reset as a Soft Reset but RAM contents which i want to prevent get set to '0'.

Is watchdog reset, RESET the whole peripherals of controller including RAM ?(Mentione in reference manual)

Is there any direct assembly command to do soft reset?

I checked with alomost all RAM's present on controller(M0, D1 and GS14), after watchdog reset all RAM's get set to '0'.

Is there any way to prevent RAM contents?

Yes, WD reset resets the peripherals and also clears ALL the RAMs.

Is this case also applied to software watchdog reset?

But any how i want to prevent some contents of RAM, which RAM should I use?

Is there any way to do soft reset without loosing RAM data?

My application needs some bytes of RAM to do further decisions of operations.

Nope there isn't. Watchdog will clear RAM and there's no other way for soft reset.

But my application need RAM data for further operations after soft reset.
Can you please suggest any solution to preserve RAM data?
Is HIBRESET requires external pin need to toggle manually ?
If yes then i can't use HIBRESET as well.

Hi Gajendra,

As Gautam mentioned, reset by WD (either SW initiated or HW initiated) will clear all the RAMs. Could you explain me the usecase for issuing the soft reset? Basically the need for issuing this reset?

Vivek,

Actually our application need to jump at start address after certain condition satified.

Where we simply want to Soft Reset the controller, but we did't found any instruction for Soft Reset.

So we are using soft watchdog Reset as a soft reset.

But we have observed after watchdog reset RAM contents set to '0'.

But we need some RAM contents after soft Reset to work our code as per our intension.

Is there any soft Reset command which can Soft Reset the controller but preserves RAM data?

I guess HIBRESET requires manual pin toggle mechanics so we can't use this RESET as well.

Customer implemented SCC reset based on example below to work around the issue.

Is this example code included in controlSuite 3.3.4?
Unfortunately, Mark Ackersons example code is not available any more.
How does SCC reset provide a work around the issue?

Hi Stephan,

This is not included in controSUITE release yet.

This reset is internal reset which reset the CPU sub-system but it does not propagate on XRSn hence RAMs does not get cleared. But this need to be initiated by SW (function call).
