Difference between SPI and UART(SCI)

Hi,

I couldn't find the difference between SPI and SCI (UART)..More or less they both are doing the same operation.
If So, then what is the need to have both in MCU?

Thanks Gautam..I saw the example code for both SCI and SPI..They look alike except the initialization part.

I have not worked on any of these protocols till now. I am completely new to this embedded software.

If you're new to the embedded world then I would request you to first go through few theoretical explanations on these protocols. They're in no world the same other than being Serial in nature. They follow their particular protocol for communication.
Please don't directly jump to the software part until you're clear about their respective working.
