External ADC for use with eZdsp f28335

I have eZdsp f28335 but unfortunately ADC channels are broken, so i decided to use an external ADC that can outputs serial data

(it has 4 ports - 1 pin for 1 serial port)

Can I connect the output of the ADC (serial) to a Digital input of the DSP?

or what can i do?

Hi Shady,

This depends on the ADC you're shortlisting. Also, ADC serial should be connected to DSP serial for data reception.

I will make a small program on arduino to operate the ADC and send the digital value to a serial port then i want this output to be recognized with the DSP

Understood! Then you'll have to use SCI on C2000 if you're transferring through UART in Arduino.

yes How can i do this? (connection )
or Can i use the normal digital I/O ?
I mean , Can i use ADC of arduino to give digital output from (DO pin) then transfer this digital value to DSP's Digital Input?
or i must use number of digital outputs equal to the number of bits of the ADC?

No no. Instead once your Arduino ADC gives you the digital value in its result register -> fetch the same and transmit the data through UART of arduino. This digital data will be received through SCI communication to C2000 mcu. SCIRXBUF will have the received value that you can process further.

I now work for how can i connect the UART of arduino to the SCI of the DSP

Excellent! Just remember one thing that you can't connect both of them directly as they've different voltage levels ie Arduino - 5V & C2000 - 3.3V
Either you can use an isolator or level shifter.
