Hi guys!

Im working on the TI Solar explorer kit and im currently working on the following lab code provided with the kit in control suite. The Implementing Photovoltaic Inverter System using C2000 Microcontrollers on Solar Explorer Kit, v1.0 1/31/2012 ( i was wondering if there is an updated version of this document as well.

Well where im having issues is on the: 3 Hardware Platform Setup , specifically the 3.2 Software Setup portion of the document/lab. on part 6. where it asks to select the connection type: Connection – Texas Instruments XDS100v1 USB Emulator but that is not one of the options.

The closes option I have to that is Texas Instruments XDS100v1 USB Debug Probe and when I run the code, it builds fine, have not issues there but when I run and debug it I get an error. I think its that it can't connect to it or something similar to it.

I have CCS 6 , the latast version from the website, specifically for the c2000 microcontrollers ti.com/tool/ccstudio-C2000

I notice that the document Im using uses CCS 5, an older version. The doc can be found here: ftp.ti.com/.../PVInverter_F2803x.pdf

Is there something I'm missing? Has this document been updated in the past 3 years or so? I have everything updated and I just can't get this to work. Pease help. thank you in advance

Hi Fernando,

I hope you're able to set the mentioned Connection and Device settings in Target Configuration. If yes, then can you paste the screenshot of the error window?

Hi Gautam!

Thank you for replying, i really appreciate your help.

Error connecting to the target:

(Error -1135 @ 0x0)

The debug probe reported an error. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation.

(Emulation package 6.0.14.5)

I only have these options to pick from and none are the one that I need. So I pick the debug probe but that doesn't work.

You've to select XDS100v1 USB Debug Probe and Device as TMS320F28035
Also, check your device manager for detected debugger as XDS100 Channel A & B

Okay, I'll check this out and see if that helps.

Also you said: If you refer the guide, they asked you to select XDS100v1 and not XDS100v2! That's where you went wrong.
Check and update.

That was a mistake on my part when I took the screenshot, I did use v1 not v2 and even when I try either one I get the same error.

I'll check the device manger and report back

It still gives me the same issue: I checked the device manger as you said, but I still get the same error when i run the code. It does however build the project successfully. It just wont debug and I get that same error. IS there by any chance an updated version of the document?

Any jumper or switch setting you're missing? Can you check with that??

Yes, everything seems to be connected as it should be.

I followed the Hardware Setup instructions as mentioned below.

I followed the steps as it said and when I run it I get that error.

But I am able to run the following GUI program from the Solar Explorer Kit Quick Start Guide without any issues on the same computer Im trying to run the previous lab code.

Yes, we might be able to. I will have to check with my professor about this. I am meeting with him tomorrow and I'll share this with him.
Are there any other suggestions you think we should try to get it to work?
I've tried using different connection types since the USB Emulator is not a choice, but the same error appears whenever I debug the code, like I said it does however build successfully.
Also, do you by any chance know exactly what that error message means or is trying to say is wrong? I tried googling it but nothing really gave me direct or useful answer.

1. Please verify you have M7-J4 jumper connected on the solar explorer board.

Did you verify the jumper setting on the control card

Make sure nothing is connected to the board, and no power is being supplied to the board.
2) Insert the controlCARD into the [Main]-J1 controlCARD connector if it is not already installed.
3) Do the following switch settings on the controlCARD:
a. Control Card SW1 is in the OFF position
b. Control Card SW2, Position 1 = ON, Position 2 = ON

Looks like your issue if with JTAG chain not connected properly, for that you must ensure M7-J4 is connected and the control card has the correct settings..

The Main-J4 jumber was missing, so i added that and it now works.
