C2000 PIccolo LaunchPad - I have CCS 6.0 for MSP430, how do I get support for C2000 from there?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, MOTORWARE

I have a C2000 PIccolo LaunchPad. I already have CCS 6 on my machine for developing MSP430 programs. Can I get the new compiler into that or do I need to download and install a whole new CCS?

I have already downloaded and installed controlSUITE. I'm not making the connection. Is InstaSPIN-FOC part of controlSUITE?

It is not clear what my next step should be. Can anybody give me guidance?

  • Hello,

If you only selected MSP during device selection while installing CCS, then you need to install TI C2000 Device support. (In CCS Help->Install New Software). Additionally, the latest C28 codegen tools (compiler) can be installed the same way. If that gives you trouble, you can also rerun the CCS installer and make sure to select C2000 during installation. Then proceed to update your device support and compiler version.

For instaSPIN, you need to download Motorware. (www.ti.com/.../motorware)

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Kevin,

Additional to Chris's comments, you would have to check for the license type too. As, if you don't have the full license then you would be using the code limit license for MSP, correct me if I'm wrong. As for C2000 family if you're using XDS100 or any dev kits from TI you can opt for Free License which is as good as full license for C2000 devices.
