About USB Clock

Hello Sir,

I have question for USB for F28M35H52C1.

I have attached one snap. In that written like "Extern Clock required from xclkin for USB."

Please answer about that "Is it necessary to give clock from external XCLKIN ?"

Internal is also enough! Not necessary for external.

  • Sandip,

Please refer section "2.7.3.5 USB Auxiliary Clock (AUXPLLCLK)" in TRM.

This has following statement which answers your questions -

"USB clock tolerances are very tight. As stated in section 7.1.11 of the USB 2.0 specification, low-speed devices (1.50 Mb/s) have a tolerance of +/- 1.5% , while high-speed devices (12.000 Mb/s) have a tolerance of +/- 0.25%. Typically these tolerances are achieved by using an external crystal or resonator as the source for AUXOSCCLK."

  • There is no Section Like "2.7.3.5 USB Auxiliary Clock (AUXPLLCLK)" in Technical Reference Manually.

I am talking about F28M35H52C1. I am seeing in Tech. Ref. Manual of this controller.

Please refer and reply me as soon as possible.

  • Sandip,

You are right. I referred F28377D TRM but the requirement is for USB hence it's valid for any device with USB. Following is the snapshot -
