How to get familiar with microprocessors?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335, CONTROLSUITE

Hello All,

I am a complete rookie in TI and even in understanding microprocessors.

My supervisor provided me with a TMS320F28335 so that I learn how to work with it and then move toward building my own controller.

I also have access to Rulph Chassaing book, and a few of its example , entitled: "DSP Applications Using C and the TMS320C6x DSK".

I know my questions might be too preliminary for such professional forum, however, your responses will be very helpful probably for other people, too.

My questions (starting from the most general one to the most specific one) are:

1- What are the basic knowledge someone has to acquire before going toward working with microprocessors, assuming you are not a computer engineer?

2- How would someone self-learn how to work with microprocessors?

3- What are the books, and other materials you would suggest to study before actually touching a MP?

4- Is there any material that someone would suggest solely for learning how to work with TMS320F28335?

5- How can I modify the examples in TMS320C6x to work with TMS320F28335?

Thank you all

Amin
