TMS320F28377D SDFM - AMC1305(Delta-sigma Modulator)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377D

Hello,

I am trying to interface SDFM of TMS320F28377D with AMC1305. This delta sigma modulator takes clock as input. SDFM of TMS320F28377D also takes clock as input. In datasheet of the controller, it is stated that:  "PWMs can be used to generate a modulator clock for ΔΣ modulators". However, I could not find any reference to how to do that(Pin connections, configuring PWM for this operation etc). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Ege,

From software perspective, you need to configure F28377D PWM to output clock signal with frequency from 5 to 20.1 MHz for AMC1305.

From hardware perspective, you need to make sure to route PWM output (which provides modulated clock signal) to both AMC1305 and TMS320F28377D SDFM clock input channels.

  • Hi Manoj,

I am also trying to use AMC1304  with TMS320F28377. On document 'SPRUHM8C' , P1420, I found the following description for SDFM, my questions are (1)for generating AMC1304 CLOCK, can I use any PWMs other than PWM11/PWM12? (2) What is the function of this filter synchronization? Thank you!

  • Yang,

Sorry for responding late. If a forum post is generally answered, people won't open the forum. Please post new questions in a new post in future.

    (1) Yes, you can clock AMC1304 using any PWM.
    (2) Filter synchronization: SDFM is an asynchronous module working out of SD-CLK. Filter reset option helps the user to synchronize the filter data generation event with respect to a PWM event.
