C2000 on Linux-based OS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hello Alvaro,

I'm the Chief Engineer of Tnduction, a manufacturer of induction heaters. With the sale and probable destruction of Atmel, I'm looking to move our products away from Atmel and the TI C2000 line looks ideal. I just purchased a Launchpad to play with over my vacation. What really caught my attention is the apparent Linux-oriented development environment since we're an all-Linux shop. Now I'm dismayed to find that ControlSUITE is windows-only. The message I'm replying to is 3 years old. So when is TI going to release a Linux version?

Thanks,
John

  • John,

Unfortunately, we've had difficulty with transitioning the controlSUITE installer to support Linux. Although the installer is windows only, the controlSUITE software suite is tested on Linux and is fully capable for development in a Linux environment. Regarding installation, I recommend using Wine (https://www.winehq.org/), a free software that enables windows executables to run on Linux. An alternative option includes installing controlSUITE on a Windows computer and copying the installed controlSUITE directory to your Linux machine.

    Best Regards,
    Chris
