CCS 6.1 hanging while I am trying to use watch windows to watch the variables online.

Hie everyone,

I am using F28335 for induction motor control. When I run the program, the CCS window loses connectivity. It displays that the watch variables could not be updated. And then, I have to restart my system to restart the software. I am also unable to delete the process from the task manager.

Could anyone please help me out with this?

I am also using a ferrite core on the cable to avoid the disturbance but this didn't work.

Does this happen even with a simple endless loop in the main with a counter, or only with more complicated code?

Hello,

I haven't tried it with a simple loop, but I tried it by reducing the watch dog variables, it didn't work. It hangs up, especially when I try to watch some inbuilt registers of F28335 such as EPWm registers.

Hi Nikhil,

One quick question, does this happen esp. when your motor is running or in off condition? Also, what hardware are you using custom or dev kit?

Hello Gautam,

It is very uncertain, sometimes it hangs up when the motor is running and sometimes it happens during the testing phase.

And I am using a custom board built out off development kit.

Nikhil, this might be due to motor inducing noise to debug probe. What you can try is to get a ferrite based usb chord to connect your debugger to your PC or simply wind the normal usb cable through a ferrite core with multiple turns. This should help you sought out frequent disconnections.

Hie gautam,
Please do refer to my first post. I have been already using a ferrite core word with few turns of the cable. The problem still exists.
Please do suggest me with different methods if any, to avoid this problem.
And also the control circuit is kept far away from the motor and power circuits. This is distance is approximately 1mtr.
