TMS320C28346 - How DMA interpretes Frames from McBSP

This question is concerning the TMS320C28346 Delfino Microcontroller

In McBSP reference Guide (SPRUG80A) one can find the following statement: „The McBSP allows you to configure each frame to contain one or two phases”. One can not find any surch result for the words "frame" or "phase" in the reference guide of the DMA (SPRUG78A). Thus we are wondering if and how the DMA can handle the information "Phase" and "Frame" from the McBSP?

Our concrete task: We have 3 input words at the McBSP with 16 bits each and would like to arrange/sort them before writing into the L-SARAMs. Are there any possibilities for this issue?

Hi Christa,

DMA does not handle any such information from McBSP (or any other peripherals). User need to arrange the data in source (or destination memory) as per the phase or frame requirement.

DMA does not have a feature to sort the data. You need to use CPU to arrange/sort the received data.
