I recently bought the experimenters kit which came with its own docking station and control card. Tms320f28069. Works fine. I tried the blink led Pgm.

I also got the isolated TMS320F28069 control card. So I removed the old card and replaced it with the isolated version. But the Pgm does not run. The code composer does not see the new control card. So it is not able to connect to the target. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Murali,

Did you check with the switch positioning on the new isolated card? Please go through "CC2806x-InfoSheet_Rev0.4_20Jan2014" pdf that is available here: C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\TMDSCNCD28069ISO_v1_1\R0_4

Thanks Gautam. I went through the document after your suggestion. However, I am not sure what needs to be done to establish connection.
Do I need additonal cabling from either J1 or J200 from the card to the docking station?
BTW does the clear top lid of the switches come off so we can access the switches? I don't want to break the switch.

Murali,

When using an "ISO" card with a Docking Station, you need to have two cables connecting to the setup:
1) A USB connection to J1 on the controlCARD - powers the emulator - LD4 on the controlCARD should come on when plugged in
2) One of the below to power the F28069 chip. Once done, LD1 on the controlCARD will come on.
a) USB cable to JP2 on the Docking Station - if done, it may be worthwhile to also put a jumper on J8
b) A +5V DC supply to JP1 of the Docking Station
c) USB cable to J200 of the controlCARD

Yes, feel free to remove the clear-ish plastic film from the switch.

Brett,
I have connected 2 cables. :
Lap top to docking station (JP2)
Laptop to Isolated Control Card (J1)
LD4 and LD1 are both ON.
But the Code composer Studio does not connect to the target. gives following error:

C28xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1135 @ 0x0) The debug probe reported an error. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 6.0.14.5)

I tried many switch configurations for SW1, 2 & 3. What Am I missing?

I think so. It works with the non-iso control card. Should the target file be different?

The jtag integrity scan test is failing when I test the target configuration: following is the actual error message:

The utility will now report only the count of failed tests.
Scan tests: 2, skipped: 0, failed: 1
Do a test using 0xFE03E0E2.
Scan tests: 3, skipped: 0, failed: 2
Do a test using 0x01FC1F1D.
Scan tests: 4, skipped: 0, failed: 3
Do a test using 0x5533CCAA.
Scan tests: 5, skipped: 0, failed: 4
Do a test using 0xAACC3355.
Scan tests: 6, skipped: 0, failed: 5
Some of the values were corrupted - 83.3 percent.

The JTAG DR Integrity scan-test has failed.

They're the same. I hope the SW3 (TRST) pin is in ON position.

SW3 both positions are "ON"
SW2 is in the VDD_ADC/GND position
SW1 both positions are "ON"

I'm still getting the same error:

"Error connecting to the target:

Hi Murali,

First of all, did you try the recommended action of putting a jumper on J8 of the Docking Station baseboard?

If you go into Windows control panel's device manager: Do you see a "TI XDS100 Channel A" and a "TI XDS100 Channel B" entry under Universal Serial Bus controllers? A screenshot of what you should see is in the fifth image in Charlie's message:

This will tell you if Windows has been able to recognize and find drivers for the xds100 emulator setup.
a) if you don't see these entries in Device Manager, I would recommend re-programming the ftdi. This is discussed in the same e2e link as the one I just mentioned.
b) if you see the XDS100 Channel entries, then the problem is CCS target configurations, hardware setup, or the hardware.

Hi Brett,
Sorry I just saw your response. I will try the jumper on J8 and also check the windows device manager.

One note: the set up works with the non-isolated control card.

Murali,

J8 holds the xds100 emulator on the Docking Station baseboard in reset.

If you have a USB cable plugged into the Docking Station (even if you're planning to just use it for power), the xds100 on the Docking Station will come on. Windows can then get confused between which xds100 it is trying to connect to - you want it working with the one on the controlCARD.

I see that now in the schematics. I am glad that the isolated control card is working.

For now I am going to work with the non-isolated control card to do all the lab exercises. So I will leave J8 as is, without the jumper
