TMDSHVBLPFCKIT

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVBLPFCKIT

Hello,

I am currently using BLPFC (TMDSHVBLPFCKIT) kit.For this kit i am using two incandescent bulb as resistive load in series.

Specifications of single bulb are 230 volt ,10W. which gives 5.2Kohm resistance(as per R=V^2/P).but after running the code

the MOSFET Q1 get short circuited and this happened two times.As per user guide in build 3 the load with 40W and 8.2k ohm

resistance input voltage 110Vrms which provide 20W power. and i am using two 10W bulb total power 20 watt as per calculation

which provide 15.38W power. Is there any wrong with my calculations.please suggest me solution.

Thanks in advance.

  • Your power calculation looks good. The PFC output voltage is about 400V DC. So your two lamp load has a series resistance of 10.4K ohm. Therefore the DC bus load will be 400*400/10400 = 15.4W.

You need to start the BLPFC kit with 120Vac input only. After it power up then you can change to 220Vac input. This is mentioned in the user guide. If you start with 220Vac the kit might get damaged. When the MOSFET gets damaged, it is very likely that the gate driver IC  will also get damaged. So it is better to replace both the MOSFET and the driver IC.

  • Yes i am giving only 110VAC.

In this case only my MOSFET(Q1) showing faulty but gate driver IC performing well.is it necessary to replace the gate driver IC

And my question is  why the  MOSFET get damaged .and also tell me other precautions which is necessary to take.
