F28379S Configurable Logic Block (CLB), TRM?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

in the TMS320F2837xS Delfino™ Microcontrollers documentation (SPRS881B) I found a Chapter (cited below) about a CLB in the MCU. Is there some more Information about this CLB? Or is the CLB configuarble only for TI and not for the user?

I am missing a Technical Reference Manual for the 28379 (as e.g. available for the 28377), too.

Thanks

Frank

6.14 Configurable Logic Block (CLB)
The configurable logic block enables TI to offer additional interfacing and control features for select C2000
devices. TI utilizes the CLB to create specific on-chip solutions, such as Position Manager, that would
otherwise be accomplished using additional logic devices. Configuration files, application programmer’s
interface (API), and use examples are provided with the C2000 controlSUITE software package. In some
solutions, the TI-configured CLB is used in conjunction with other on-chip resources, such as the SPI port
or the C28x CPU, to perform more complex functionality. See Table 3-1 for the devices that support the
CLB feature.

  • I see, the topic is top secret. Nobody seems to know...

  • Actually, I'm curious about CLB too, only difference between F28377 and F287379 is the CLB. But there are no information about it either in TRM or other documents except, a brief explanation given in the data manual.
  • Hi,

I would suggest to contact your local FAE support on this.

  • Hi,

As indicated in the data sheet, the configurable logic block enables TI to offer additional interfacing and control features for select C2000
devices. TI utilizes the CLB to create specific on-chip solutions, such as Position Manager, that would
otherwise be accomplished using additional logic devices. At this point, customer will only be able to access the CLB supported functions via TI provided libration or API's.

  • Thanks for the replies, I thought the CLB is something like a user programmable FPGA or CPLD inside. I 'll ask the FAE...

    Regards, Frank
  • Hello,

i have same problem, i cannot find documentation for CLB. I have asked to my local FAE who answered me to ask here in the forum. So what can i do now?
  • Hello Emanuele,

I had a discussion with a TI guy some month ago (at the 2016 SPS/IPC drives fair in Nuremberg, as far as I remember). He told me that the CLB is currently used by TI internally only (for ENDAT etc.) and that it may or may not be opened for the customers, and that there is currently no documentation for the customers. May be there is some new information meanwhile...

    Frank
  • Thank you for fast reply,
unfortunately there is no new documentation available, nor in controlSuite, i think ti should not publicize CLB if customers are not allowed to use it!
    Thanks Frank
  • As indicated above in the thread, the CLB block is only able to be used at this time with TI provided libraries. We do not yet have a customer configurable tool for this module. The point of the existing documentation is just to indicate the module exists on certain devices so that customers know which devices will support the TI provided libraries which at the moment are mainly Position Manager (e.g. Endat) libraries. It intentionally leaves out the inner details since customers are not able to configure it at this time. We are exploring options to open this to customers in the future and will notify the community when/if that happens.

    Regards,
    Bobby
  • Thanks Bobby,

now it's clear, that configurable logic block is, in fact, unconfigurable for end customer, who can only use it in preconfigured ways supplied through libraries, to implement master for Endat 2.2 or Biss-C.
