programming the TMS320F243PGEA

Hello,

I need to program a bootloader into the TMS320F243PGEA. I think that it has somehow become corrupted. I have no experience what so ever on these microcontrollers. Can anyone provide me with information on inexpensive (or diy) programmers for this device? Does this device use the - Standard 14-pin TI JTAG Connection? Any information would be most welcome.

Hi,

This is an obsolete part and as far as my knowledge XDS510 is the debugger that supports this part.

Hello,

Because this is an old device and Not Recommended for New Designs, I do not believe you'll be able to get too much help from the community on your issue.

However, the following e2e thread looks like it may help you in your task (even in 2011 the F243x was an old device):

Thank you very much for the info.

Just to provide you with some follow up on the topic:
The TMS320F243PGEA is the "heart" of a control board pcb that is, again, a part of an hp uniterruptable power supply. The firware update on the UPS crashed, and now the control board will not accept any firmware serial programming what so ever. This is why would like to try to use JTAG to reprogram the bootloader into the device and try the firmware update again.

But do check the debugger sheet for the compatibility before purchasing.
