hi all,

I am using the TI dsp TMS320f2812 board for a project which is speed control of 3 phase induction motor.I need to measure the rotor speed and for that i am using this rotory encoder from autonics.

the supply voltage for the encoder is 12-24vdc and has a totem pole type output.

can someone please help me on how to connect the output pins from the encoder to the qep pins of the dsp. Do we need some kind of external circuit also?

The totem pole version is marked 5V, and 12-24V version is line driver version where the signals are available differentially.

You have to convert the signals to 3.3V level before connecting to the DSP. How to connect is fairly straight forward, connect signal A to QEPA,and so on likewise.

Thank you very much sir.followed what you told and it worked.
I was also thinking that can I use the 2 switches available on the dsp board to incresae/decrease the motor speed in real time?can this be done using simulink model/matlab?
