Hi,

I am programming a F28335 via USB and now wish to flash the device for stand-alone operation.

My config pins are in debug mode: SW1 (0010), SW2 (110111)

I can only find (new to this) a manual (spraal3.pdf) "Flash Programming Solutions for the TMS320F28xxx DSCs" which is based on the older CCS software.

Can I please ask how to setup my TMS320F28335 for flashing using the new CCS 4.0?

Here is some info from the multi-day workshop. Once the flash programming is done, you will still need to set up the GPIO to run from flash after reset.

In CCS (version 4.x) the on-chip flash programmer is integrated into the debugger. When the program is loaded CCS will automatically determine which sections reside in flash memory based on the linker command file. CCS will then program these sections into the on-chip flash memory. Additionally, in order to effectively debug with CCS, the symbolic debug information (e.g., symbol and label addresses, source file links, etc.) will automatically load so that CCS knows where everything is in your code.

Clicking the "

Debug" button in the C/C++ Perspective will automatically launch the debugger, connect to the target, and program the flash memory in a single step.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for your reply - I'm not sure I explained my situation correctly. I have a project with programme which I load onto the target (F28335)

running the program in debug mode (with PC/DSP connected via USB):

SW1(0010)
C/C++ Perspective
Target > Debug Active Project

The code now runs on the target as intended. I now wish to load the programme into memory so that each time I power the device up it runs this code (without use of the PC). Can you please provide information on how to configure the F28335 for standalone operation and any code changes required using CCS4.0

Thanks for this information - whilst it is useful; I cannot find any tutorials/examples or material related to specific CCS4.x. So much exist for version 3.0 - how can TI encourage the inception of V4 without such a tutorial. Are there any F28335 examples of ROM based projects in CCS4.x?

The C2833x/C2823x C/C++ Header Files and Peripheral Examples (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/sprc530.html) now includes CCSv4 projects, and this has a Flash example (flash_f28335) that you can use as a starting point.

Also the example projects from SPRA958 app note referenced earlier by Todd can be "imported" into CCSv4 using the Project->Import Legacy CCSv3.3 Project wizard.
