TMDSRSLVR_v2.0

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

The company I work for bought the “TMDXIDDK379D-MTR-BNDL”.

In the document “Sensored FOC of PMSM_IDDK_v2” in ControlSUITE it refers to “C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\TMDSRSLVR_v2.0\~Docs” in ControlSUITE.

In version 3.3.9 of ControlSUITE I only have “TMDSRSLVR_v1.0” where can I get the new version?

Also where should I submit documentation issues for this kit?

  • It was a typo, apologies, refer to TMDSRSLVR_v1.0 for general information about resolver to digital conversion.

For documentation issues, you can use this forum so others will also be benefited until we fix them. Thanks.
  • Thanks Ramesh,

Below are some issues I found with using the “TMDXIDDK379D-MTR-BNDL”. I’ve included them here so they stay connected to the above issue.

The documents in ControlSUITE and at the top of the webpage for the product are for version 2.2 of the board (28377) not the 2.2.1 version (28379).  Many zero ohm resistor have changed and the grounding is different. If you go to the bottom of the page under user manuals you can find the 2.2.1 version.

The target configuration in the ControlSUITE example project is for the 28377 and not 28379. You need to create your own target.

The function MainISR is referenced which doesn’t exist, from the comments I think this was changed to MotorControlISR.

If I perform steps 19 and 20 in section 4.4 of the document “Sensored FOC of PMSM_IDDK_v2” in ControlSUITE the debugger hangs at an estop in cinit. If I do the reset CPU and restart manually it works fine.

In the document “Sensored FOC of PMSM_IDDK_v2” you are asked to click run in the debug tab, this tab has no run button, you can hit resume in the toolbar to continue.

In the document “Sensored FOC of PMSM_IDDK_v2” level 1C you are asked to look at Vfb-U, Vfb-V and Vfb-W when the bus voltage is greater than 20V. Resistors R12,R31,R58 and R59 in module M4 are not populated on the version of the board so no signal gets to the test points. Also if you look on the other side of the missing resistors you still won’t see the values until you insert jumpers J1-J4 in module M4 when the bus voltage is below 100V.

I can see other board differences, we have both boards at the company I work for.  I assume the documents have many more issues associated with the board change, but that step 19 and 20 thing took me awhile to figure out. I’ll add more when I get back to it.

    Thanks again John

  • John,

Thanks for reviewing it elaborately. I will consolidate the corrections and update the docs.
