Generating a trigger signal (10 us) by TMS320F240

Hi,

I'm a chemical & process engineer undergraduate from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Currently I'm doing my final year research project regarding the coupled tank level controlling. I'm using dSPACE DS1104 R&D Controller Board with TMS320F240 DSP unit & Simulink. The problem is I'm new to controlling and I'm not able to generate 10 us trigger signal for HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor from the DSP unit. I'm kindly request any help regarding the problem.

Hi Chathuranga,

This chip is very very old and obsolete. I'm not sure how soon you would get help here but lets hope for the best.

In principle such a pulse could be generated from the F240 using a PWM module or a GPIO pin. The PWM would allow you to generate repetitive pulses with deterministic timing, which is probably what you would want with a ranging module. At the device level it's not difficult to configure this using C code. However from dSpace I don't think anyone on this forum is going to be able to help. I recommend posting the question on the dSpace support site:

As Gautam has pointed out, please keep in mind the F240 is an obsolete device which is no longer in production.

Hi Gautam,

But this is the Slave DSP unit in the dSPACE DS1104 R&D Controller Board (https://www.dspace.com/en/pub/home/products/hw/singbord/ds1104.cfm). Is there any way?

Thanks. Of course, I have solved the problem by using PWM module. Actually, the problem which I was facing is the lack of knowledge about dSPACE control desk next generation software. There are build up models for PWM generation. So, it was not required to hard code.
