I would like to develop a Brushed DC motor controller with fully closed loop capabilities (quadrature encoder for position & speed control). The motors rated power will not exceed 50W. I intend it to be a two axis design, but I can start with a single axis for now. I noticed C2000 reference designs mainly deals with AC motors/ PMSM and BLDC.
What is my best option regarding development board? which controller will best suit me? Is there any reference design?
I would like to have the latest controller in terms of speed and capabilities for this project. Supporting Endat/Biss/Hiperface is nice to have but not a must.

The EVM that supports motor control and various position encoders is TMDXIDDK379D. It has a three phase inverter, however, you can configure the code to run a dc motor. The existing supporting software that comes with the kit is meant for PMSM motor. You will have to tweak it.

Can you please point me as to where to start, how do I tweak the code in order to use DC motor?

In the existing code, there is a macro called SVGEN and PWM_MACRO, they take care of doing space vector modulation pwm and then duty cycle update on the compare registers. For running a DC motor, you will need to apply a constant duty cycle at a given speed. For example, if you use inverter half bridges A and B for controlling motor, then you could use Ta to generate duty cycle A and B'. However, you need to spend some time to understand how the hardware is set up and come up with your strategy.

Hi Rotem,

Did you setup the kit to run the BDC motor? And have any issue? Recomend below Kit for BDC motor, which are 3-phase inverter for PMSM/BLDC/ACI, you can only use the half bridge or full bridge to run the BDC motor.

Low Voltage Larger Current BDC: DRV8301-69M-KIT or LAUNCHXL-F28377S + BOOSTXL-DRV8301

You can refer to below BDC reference design which is based on F280x and other kit, and you can migrate it to above kits.
