TMS320F DC-DC implementation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Dear Shamim

Choudhury, Shamim <sach@ti.com>

I came across your paper entitled;

“Digital Control Design and Implementation of a DSP Based High-Frequency DC-DC Switching Power Converter”

Very good paper and reference ; however how do you get equations Gp and Gc; I need actual equations in terms of general circuit parameters (R’s ,L and C’s ect) ; also can you please send me MATLAB .m  scrip file you used to plot all the figures in the paper. Do you have the C++ code to download for this paper  as a reference for my design.

I am planning to use the TMS320F DSP to implement digital multi-phase DC-DC ,you have any app notes on multi-phase CPU type DC-DC application you can share with me please. (12VDC to 0.7-1.3VDC , 200 Amp 6ph interleaved Buck as per Intel VRM 12.5/13 spec )

I appreciate your help and support , do you have a phone number I can call you if I need some more help in implementation ,

Thank you,

Ivan Vuk

  • Gp is derived from the small signal model of the dc-dc buck converter. This is available in literature. You can also look at TI appnote SLUA416 at TI website:

    As outlined in this paper, when Gp is known you can use Matlab control design tool and design the digital controller Gc. Matlab has GUI based SISO control design tool where you can place your controller poles and zeros and the adjust the gain. Once your Bode plot looks good (you have good gain, bandwidth, phase margin and gain margin) you can export the controller Gc from Matlab.

    I don't have the exact matlab script at this time. Attached is a copy.

    I don't have code example for this. But you can find similar examples in TI ControlSUITE once you install it.

    C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\BOOSTXL_BUCKCONV

    For multi-phase dc-dc control design will be similar (one voltage loop). But I don't have the exact example or appnote on this.
