F28335 - UDP protocol interface

Hi Everyone,

I am not really sure if I should be posting to this thread, so my apologies in advance.

I am working on an application on which I have to transmit UDP data from a standalone processor to another machine thru a module that uses a USB/IP configuration. The intermediate module is a piece of hardware (proprietary) that encrypts the sent data, and decrypts it before getting to its receiving end. Basically, I do not have to deal with this module much and all I know is that it receives and transmits its data thru USB.

Also, I am familiar with the F28335 processor and I was attempting to use it to transmit UDP data but i realize it does not support this capability.

Would a Ethernet to Serial adapter work for what I am doing? I have seen one on another blog but it has been discontinued. Or would I be better off choosing a processor that supports the UDP protocol?

Any advice is greatly appreciated guys.

Thank you,

Gilmer

  • Gilmer,

apologize for late reply. Yes you will need to find a thirdparty MAC+PHY hardware that can be interfaced to F28335 via SPI or other interfaces. After this you will need to build the UDP functions or port them on to the 28x core.

I've seen forum posts where customers tried this, but I'm not sure of any final implementations.

Please check if Concerto would work for your use case?
