AFE032

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE032

Hello guys,

i am a student working with the AFE032.

does anyone knows how the AFE032 ADC path works? in the datasheet there is no information about it.

I assume as soon as one AFE032 transmits the signal into the powerline, another AFE032 receives that signal (the same bits long, for example it was sent a 24bits long data from the DAC in the first AFE032, so the second AFE032 receives all those 24bits long data). So after receiving those 24bits long data, how does it send it to through the pin 20 which is RX_PGA2_OUT? i mean, i have to expect in the ADC pin of the microcontroller a voltage and i know it should be a 24bits long?or what do i need to do?

thanks and best regards,

andres.

  • Hi Andres,

The AFE032 datasheet does a good job of describing the functions inside the AFE032.

The intelligence in the power-line communication system is largely inside the C2000.  The AFE032 does not provide a bit-stream to the C2000.  Instead, it provides an analog signal which the C2000 has to do significant signal processing on (OFDM) in order to find the payload.  Similarly the TX path also relies on the C2000 to do signal processing before data is sent to the DAC inside the AFE032 (and subsequently to the power line).

    Thank you,
    Brett
