Hello everyone, i'm an electronic engineering student and i'm new into this world of embedded systems so i don't know where to start, that's why i would be very grateful if you can give some help.

Also, i want to know if this device is compatible with Labview and Matlab (which versions) cause i can't find the modules. Besides, this device only has parallel port and i have a laptop so, is there a way to connect via USB? or is there another solution you can give me?

Matlab should be supported but I'm not sure which version as the this device is pretty old.

There should be a provision for attaching JTAG device such as XDS100v2 on the board. Populate the JTAG with a Header and purchase the inexpensive XDS100v2 for debugging purpose.

What is the reason you want to work on this kit? This is pretty old one. If college has it and is making you to work on the same... I would recommend you to purchase the C2000 launchpad based on TMS320F28027. Its around $17 only :)

Hi,

MathWorks supports C2812 devices with our C2000 Support Package, which requires Simulink and Embedded Coder. We started support in release R2013b.

A good resource for learning more about the 2812 is through TI's free workshops (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C2000_Archived_Workshops. The tutorial for the 2812 is an excellent way to become acquainted with this microcontroller especially for new users.

Thank you so much Gautam, and yeah college has it and my graduation project director want me to work on it. Too bad it's too old but i'm curious about this DSP's world. But if you say it's not worth working on this machine, i could change to another embedded system like Arduino or FPGA.

What you have is the F2812 eZdsp development platform. One used to be able to connect to it directly using the parallel port of a PC (without the need for any emulator). Now that PCs don’t come with parallel ports anymore, you could buy a XDS100v2 JTAG emulator and directly connect to the 14-pin JTAG emulator on the board. Admittedly, this DSP was introduced well over a decade ago. However, this is still widely used/adopted by our customers. Gautam does make a good point about latching on to our newer devices that are indeed more powerful, with a richer set of peripherals and come with lower cost development platforms like the Launchpad.
