how to control more than 10 motors using f28377s launchpad's gpio and pwm pins together

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8833, DRV8835, CONTROLSUITE, TPS54383EVM, SN74LV4051A, INA326

Actually i want to control 16 motors....using f28377s launchpad's gpio and pwm pins with the help of motor drivers drv8833 and drv8835...

i could not understand the gpio mux.....can any one please help me....

You mean to say that you don't understand on how to alter the muxing scheme from GPIO to PWM? If so, the example codes here will give you an idea:

  • Can u please tell me how many maximum no. of motors can we control with speed and bi directional movement using f28377s launch pad and motor drivers DRV8833 and DRV8835.

  • Can u please tell me how many maximum no. of motors we can control the speed and bi directional movement using f28377s launch pad and motor drivers DRV8833 and DRV8835.

kindly reply please....i want your support sir....

  • Hi,

I guess your replies got missed but you don't have to flood the thread :)

DRV8833 can drive 2 motors with PWM, nSLEEP and nFAULT  connections. Secondly depends on your application how many PWMs you want to configure to realize this. Go through the driver datasheet thoroughly.

F28377s has 24 PWM channels that you can configure. So you've no limitations for setting up 10 motors.

  • In the 377S Launchpad, there are about 12 PWMs, you could control currents in 12 different windings. Technically, you could control 6 steppers, 10 seems a bit too far considering that you need few other signals for each stepper control.

  • Thank you so much sir..

can u please send the pin out diagram for f28377s launch pad representing the pwm pins...

    pleaseee.....

  • thank you ramesh.. can u give me the pin out of 377s launchpad, representing the pwm pins
  • You can find all the detailed schematic and pinouts for the kit here:

  • I'm using the TPS54383EVM for converting 12v,2A 4000mah battery to 5v and 3.3v and it gives the o/p of 2A for each channel....
    i want to give supply from 5v rail to 8*1 analog multiplexer SN74LV4051A, 5 no.of motor drivers DRV8835, 6 no.of INA326 and LAUNCHXL-F28377S's jp5
    from 3.3v rail to LAUNCHXL-F28377S's jp4 and MSP-EXP430G2
and i'm connecting another 2 motor drivers DRV8833 to 9v from the 12v battery using 7809 regulator and 4no. of TLO74 to the battery
    My questions are...
is it safe to connect like that?
is the current from the battery is required enough to all the components?
can u please tell me where i have to connect the ground on LAUNCHXL-F28377S?
    when i'm applying 3.3v and 5v externally to jp4 and jp5 by removing jp1 and jp2.
    hope u understand my problem...
    please help me...

  • Hi Narendra,

I'm sorry to not able to help you out on this and my suggestion would be to check with an experienced PCB designer. This would help you take care of noisy traces.
