Hello team,
Do you have any data on the BW needs for running EtherCat on the TMS320F2807x (125Mhz)? Looking at using Piccolo+LAN9252 and want to know how much BW will be left for the application.
Thanks!
Nate

Hi Nathaniel,
Most of the realtime processing needs of EtherCAT are handled by the EtherCAT "MAC" hardware before they need CPU intervention. We have some measurements taken with the ET1100 and can share those. You can expect the numbers to be a small fraction of what is available. The LAN9252 has a bit of an odd interface that requires some software support to adapt our async bus to it. We won't have that measured until sometime in Q1.
More soon ...
Hi Brian,
Thank you for the help. Yes, I think sharing the measurements for ET1100 would be useful as a reference, can you provide them here?
Additionally, this application will be using SPI between the LAN9252 and C2000. In this case would we achieve similar results to the ET1100 (which also has a SPI option)?
Thank you,
Nate
Nate,
Yes, I would expect similar results for SPI bandwidth for the ET vs. LAN parts. But, those measurements haven't been taken at this time.
