PMSM and BLDC behavior under 120degree commutation

PMSM- sinusoidal BEMF,

BLDC- trapezoidal BEMF.

Is it better to choose a BLDC if I implement 120degree commutation?

Since Torque=(EaIa+EbIb+EcIc)/w, the torque will be constant for BLDC except for the short commutation period. If we choose a PMSM, the torque will always be varying. So can I say that BLDC is not only cheaper, but also has better performance under 120degree commutation? PMSM is good only if we implement FOC?

Thanks.
