LVACIMTR: InstaSPIN Motor ID ACIM model

Part Number: LVACIMTR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE

Hi everyone,

I aquired the LVACIMTR and plan to do custom FOC with the F28096M. First I would like to determine the parameters from the standard induction motor model defined by the stator and rotor leakage inductances (Los, Lor), the stator and rotor equivalent resistances (Rs,Rr) and the main inductance (Lh).

I would like to ask what ACIM model was used for the motor id and how the series inductance L_{\sigma s}  (or USER_MOTOR_Ls_d)  specified in chapter 4.8 of spruhj1f is defined. While this chapter demonstrates how to calculate motorware parameters from known Los, Lor, Rs, Rr, Lh, the other way around is not possible for lack of the relationship between Los and Lor. Unless I'm forgetting something, of course.

Is there a way to get more specific information about LVACIMTR parameters (perhaps from the manufacturer even? The relationship between Los and Lor would already be very helpful.

Rs=1.79 Ohm

Rr=1.05 Ohm

Lh=0.03 H

Los=? H

Lor=? H

Thank you so much

  • I'm sorry, there's probably a reason why no one could help out yet, but I still need some clarifications:

    From the picture above, have I understand correctly in the LVACIMTR datasheet that...

    1. The model that the instaSPIN id uses for the acim is the four parameter model above?

    2. L_m (from the 5 parameter model)  is 30mH?

    3. L_o (four parameter model) is equal to USER_MOTOR_Ls_d from the motor id?

    4. R_R (4 parameter model) is equal to USER_MOTOR_Rr?

    5. If the above is true, from where do i get L_M (four parameter model)? Wouldn't I need L_s and L_r (five parameter model)?

    Sorry, again. I had hoped that the motor id would prove more self-explanatory for me.

  • Hi Jan,

    Please refer to InstaSPIN-FOC user's guide (SPRUHJ1F), ACIM need below motor parameters in InstaSPIN-FOC. You can use InstaSPIN to identify motor parameters (Lab02a/b), or calculate these parameters from ACIM specification datasheet which had a description in user guide also (section 4.8.1).

    1. Rotor Resistance

    2. Stator Resistance

    3. Stator Series Inductances

    4. Rated Rotor Flux

    5. Rated Magnetizing Current

  • Hi Yanming and thanks for the reply,

    I'm not using InstaSPIN-FOC to run the LVACIMTR. On the contrary, I'm trying to implement my own FOC algorithm and observer for which I need the five-parameter-model-parameters specified in the picture above which seem to be used in most of the observer-literature.

    I have looked at spruhj1f before, but, sadly, still haven't figured out how to get the five-parameter-model-parameters from the parameters that the LVACIMTR datasheet (or motor id) provides. I don't see how you can reverse the equations in 4.8.1.2 of spruhj1f without making an assumption like "rotor leakage inductance = stator leakage inductance", but I'm not sure if such a simplification is valid.

    You don't happen to have any additional information or know the untransformed parameters from the five-parameter model like on the example in Figure 4-1. in spruhj1f?
