LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Automatically disconnection of communication with PC

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

Dear All,

I am running my motor with f28069 launchpad.

I am facing a problem that is when i run the project and enable the motor control then after 2-3 seconds, the communication breaks and the error is there-

"C28xx: Error: (Error -150 @ 0x0) One of the FTDI driver functions used during configuration returned a invalid status or an error. (Emulation package 6.0.504.2)

C28xx: Unable to determine target status after 20 attempts

C28xx: Failed to remove the debug state from the target before disconnecting. There may still be breakpoint op-codes embedded in program memory. It is recommended that you reset the emulator before you connect and reload your program before you continue debugging"

I am getting the current and voltage sensor readings correct also  have reinstalled xd100V2 driver but problem is still there.

How can i solve this issue?

  • Hi Rahul,

This can be due to propagating noise through the cable affecting the communication. Can you try lowering the motor speed? Also, try using the ferrite core based USB cable or wound the normal usb cable through a ferrite core.

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • Hi Gautam,
    Thanks for the reply.

Can you try lowering the motor speed?
The motor is not running at all, i am using lab5a thus my current ref value is 0.

Also, try using the ferrite core based USB cable or wound the normal usb cable through a ferrite core.
I have checked it with DRV8301 baord. There is no problem with that and the motor is running good.

The problem is with my custom Driver board which was running good previously but this error arises all of a sudden when there was fluctuation in low voltage power supply.
  • Hello Rahul,

Are you still experiencing problems with this?

  • Hi Adam,

    Thanks for the reply.

The problem is still there but it arises few times during operations. Sometimes motor is running well and all of a sudden, the error appears and communication lost with the PC.

As i also told that this issue is not with DRV8301 board. It is with the custom driver board. So i just want to know Is this due to noise problem in circuit?

  • Hello,

Do you have the ability to scope your supply signals (VDDIO and VDD)? The supply voltages may be falling out of spec.

  • Hi,

Yes, i have the ability to scope the supply signals. I am using Regulated Power Supply and was not falling out of specs.

And the problem is solved. It was due to noise issue in the circuit.

    Thanks for your response.

    Have a great day.

  • Hi Rahul,

Glad to hear you got it working. Thanks for the update.
