TMS320F28234: TMS320F28234 Experiment kit

Part Number: TMS320F28234
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335, , TMS320F28334

Hi,

I will be working on TMS320F28234 DSP so I am looking for the related experiment kit. However, at the TI website, I found the related experiment kit is for TMS320F28335.

Where can I find the correct TMS320F28334 experiment kit?

  • Hi Yue,

We don't make an evaluation kit for each of our devices.  Instead we often build a kit around the superset device in a family.

The F28335 Experimenter's Kit should be a great evaluation tool for the F28334 device.  The only thing to keep in mind is that the F28334 will have a few less features (notably less FLASH and less eCAP peripherals).  Please see the datasheet for full details though.  As long as you do not use these features, your code will port down to the F28334 easily.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Sorry, We are using F28234 , not the F28334.

So is it still ok to use F28335 experimenter kit?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I'm sorry for misreading the part that you were interested in.

Yes, the F28335 Experimenter's Kit is a good evaluation kit for evaluating the F28234, as well.
(note that the difference between the F28234 & F28334 is that the F28334 has a floating point unit accelerator (FPU))
(also note that project compiler settings choose whether code is compiled into FPU instructions, if applicable)

    Hopefully this helps!

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Here is an alternative:

If you look, there is a socketed DSP, so you may be able to substitute the F23235 for the F28335.
