C2000 32-bit Microcontrollers Forum

Part Number: TMDSPLCKITV4-CEN

Hello,

We purchased C2000 TMDSPLCKITTV4-CEN power line communications development kit..

We use PLC Suite G3 Host Message Protocol Specification, Version 2.0.23. In the chapter 2.3.1.2 of this document is specified that one of two modes of data communication is is Lower MAC Mode (LMAC),
also that only parameter in the message besides data is

"HCT Connection Handle
The connection handle returned from the CONNECT message."

We can not find CONNECT message in the document. What should we do?

  • Hi Mirko ,

Why is it that you are interested in the "HCT Connection Handle" , this is specific to the LMAC and not for a G3 normal data transfer?
This message might have been deprecated in the past .

    Regards .
  • Hi Meghana,

I would like to do the tests according to G3 alliance conformance test suite v0.16, which (in chapter 3.2) defines LMAC frame formats. This is format taken from G3 specification. I have it in document, but I do not know how to send an it using forum communcations :-)

  • I will really appreciate if somebody will answer my previos question. Now, we have the new one:

How can we change value of MAC parameter macKeyTable? We need this key for G3 sniffer to decode packets on physical layer.

    From documentation:

This attribute holds GMK keys required for MAC layer ciphering. The attribute can hold two 16-byte keys. The row index corresponds to the Key Identifier value.

For security reason, the key entries cannot be read, only written or deleted.

Keys can be set in DC using the Rekey NW command

There is no explanation for Rekey NW command. Can anybody help?

  • Hallo Meghana, can you answer my question or tell us what to do(who to contact)? Now we have new question. Pls. check the my post from today.

    Regards
    Mirko
  • Hi Mirko ,

The macKey is not accessible in the Service node side . For the details on the rekeying from DC please refer to TI G3 DC Software User Guide.doc part of the DC SDK found in the link below .

The rekey command would be sent from the DC to the SN to start using the new key rather than the default key index 0 .

    Regards.

  • Hi Meghana.

we decided to activate sw on beagle bone, as described in www.ti.com/.../spruht4.pdf to achieve functionality you mentioned above. We compiled kernel and now we have to download DC firmware to PLC modem. We downloaded C2Prog in order to do that.My question is: do we have to purchase additional HW (XDS100 JTAG emulator) or we can do it without it, and, if yes, how?

    Regards

    Mirko
  • HI Meghana,

Is the LMAC mode deprecated for G3-PLC stack?

    Kind regards,
    Shailja

  • Hi Mirko,

Were you able to test the LMAC mode ? Did you test it with one TX-RX pair or one TX with multiple RX ?

If it worked is there a requirement to configure the nodes as TX or RX, I ask this because using ZCG we configure one node as LMAC TX and other node as LMAC RX, but ther is no description of such configuration in the Data Transfer message formats.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Kind regards,
    Shailja
