Hello.

I have a question.

What does "free run" mean in the description of the FREE bit of the SPIPRI register on page 1881 of the Technical Reference Manual?(following URL)

If you know something documents with the meaning of the "free run" written, could you tell me URL?

The bit description maybe could use a bit more fluff, but it does convey the correct information.

If FREE is 0, the SPI will behave as described by the SOFT bit. (either stopping mid transfer, or completing a word/burst before stopping)

If FREE is 1, the SPI will not be affected by any state of the emulator, meaning, if your code is halted while debugging, the SPI will continue to operate normally. So, if the SPI is a slave and the CPU is halted, the SPI will continue to receive or transmit the data in it's buffers.

Does this make sense?
