PLC design kits and info

I have a number of question regarding PLC and the C2000 family.

1.There is a design kitt http://focus.ti.com/lit/ml/sprugo8a/sprugo8a.pdf The kit comes with two modem cards with each card having a PLC SOM. It doesn't state what is on teh SOM - is it a 28335(kind of hints at a 28027).

2. What is TI’s experience in OFDM PLC implementation on F280xx family?  Is there any field test result showing bit error rate or other measure of performance?

3.What is size of the code (OFDM) that shall be resident in the F280xx family non-volatile memory (i.e. flash)?

4. Is the OFDM code available for use by customers?

Cheers

  • Calum,

Thanks for the inquiry. This document refers to an older, experimental kit we built a few of in order to address some early PLC adopters. We have since discontinued it and are working on a much better PLC solution. This new solution should be available in September. If you have some specific requirements we can definitely work with you to see if our soon to be released solution will fit your needs.

  • Thanks Charlie,

Can you give me some details on the platform you are developing? The customer wants to finish his design by the end of August, if there are specific questions can I contact you directly as some my customers technology is propriety .

Can you answer questions 2, 3 and 4?

    Cheers

  • Hi, response to your questions.

    1. This user guide is from an early PLC kit that we released. This kit supported a few different devices, including F2808 and F28027. The 2808 was the only device that was formally released, but we have the designs for F28027 SOM module.

    2. TI has been working on an OFDM solution and has been involved with many field tests with Prime and G3 implementations.  Field tests are being compiled for a release in the near future.

    3. TI actually has a few different implementations of OFDM and depending on the application, the memory size can vary.

    4. TI will be providing libraries as part of an upcoming plcSUITE software release.

  • Hi

Can you give me a rough idea of when the field data will be available - is there any chance of a preliminary/draft copy?

Can you give me a range of code size for the various OFDM implementations you have?

Can you give me an idea of when the plcSUITE will be released.

    Cheers
