Hello,

I'm using Instaspin FOC running on a TMS320F28069 to run a PMSM motor . By default it uses the ePWM module but as far as I understand the Piccolo series can use the High Resoultion PWM (HRPWM) with better accuracy and control. Why not using it? Can it be changed? Would you expect a big improvement by using it? How would you implement it?

Hi Javier,

Generally, motor control didn't need the high resolution PWM for the motor drive often used low frequency pwm, like less than 50KHz, even less than 10KHz for high power motor. The HRPWM is for high frequency PWM to improve the duty resolution, most inverter for motor drive can't support such high pwm frequency (>20KHz), so the ePWM is enough for most motor drive control.
