TMS320F28035: TMS320F28035 Can Boot

We are working on a project that requires the use of the CAN bootloader. We are trying to understand the mechanism to start the boot loader. Currently, we have the proper GPIO tied to 1’s and TRST = 0. I have read the app notes and I am still unclear how a user would utilize the bootloader in my scenario. That is, always boot to flash until I want to upgrade and then boot using bootloader.

Normally, code control would indeed branch to on-chip flash. To invoke the CAN boot-loader, you could read the status of a GPIO pin upon booting. Or poll for a "control byte" through one of the serial ports upon booting. Such code could reside in a sector that could be protected from erasure during flash programming.
