DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT: InstaSpin GUI connection problem

Part Number: DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, INSTASPIN-BLDC, CONTROLSUITE

I flashed the MCU with the "InstaSPIN-BLDC_GUI_DRV8301_v104.out" program using Code Composer Studio.

I then tried to run the "IntaSPIN-BLDC_GUI_DRV83xx_v104.exe" and at first it complained about Crosshair engine had to stop.  Now I am not getting that error but still no success.

When I run the connection wizard and click the Connect to Engine I get the error "Crosshairs [engine] is not running, Attempt to launch it?"

Selecting Yes gives error "We could not find valid DataPath.  Please reinstall the Crosshairs Embedded Client Product"

Since things are not quite right there are no targets nor connection methods populated in the Wizard.

How do I install the Embedded Client Product?

Thanks

Jeff

  • Hi Jeffery,

I have tested it on "DRV830x-HC-C2-KIT_v105", and didn't repeat the question. Can you download the latest controlSuite to test it again? An please follow the GUI quick start guide to setup hardware first, and then setup the software.
  • I already tried reinstalling controlSuite. No effect.

Things run fine on my colleague's laptop. It seems that my lap top may be conflicting with the CrossHairs GUI in some way.
We noticed a difference in our device Manager results when we plugged the USB in.

I tried to update some of the USB drivers but to no avail. Something to do with how my PC is handling the serial port I think.

Everything else with code composer studio and compiling and downloading onto the EVAL kit works fine. Just can't seem to run the Instaspin GUI executable and make a connection to the kit. I get an error message telling me to reinstall the Crosshair embedded client (if I recall).
  • You can check the JATG or SCI can work well use other utilities, like CCS. if yes, maybe, you have to update your PC system since I have tested it on both win7 and win10, both two can work well as your colleague.
