LAUNCHXL-F28377S: LAUNCHXL-F28377S

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28377S

Hi there,

I'm looking for a way to externally supply an LAUNCHXL-f28377s, do you know if it is possible?
The documentation only tells about jumpers positioning, but powering the 5v pins on the header pins is not enough to switch on the board.

Anyone has the exact configuration of pins and jumpers?

Very Very Thank you

  • Hi Valerio,

You plan to use external supply instead of USB supply, right? If so then all you need to do is supply 5V across C44. Do check the schematic for the correct polarity.

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • Hi Valerio,

I've done it by removing JP1 and and JP2 and supplied 3.3V over the headers J1 and J5. (J10 would be also possible.)

The 5V on this headers are generated on the Launchpad out of 3.3V so its not possible to supply the Launchpad with 5V on the headers J1 or J5 (the 5V is only an output)

    Regards
    Rene
  • Rene,

You are correct, a 5V supply is not able to power this board without modification.

You need to supply the 3.3V through the BP headers. You can disconnect the Boost circuit (3.3V to 5V) by removing the U12 IC. This will ensure there is no contention coming through the BP headers for 5V.

The alternate method would be to do as Gautam described. provide the +5V across C44, connect JP1 and JP2, and remove U12.
