CCS/TMS320F28032: How to fix "program will not fit into available memory" problem in Flash?

Hi,

I wrote control program for 28032 and it worked well before. But there is "memory" issue when I added CAN communication part. The error screenshot shows as below. I noticed that although FLASHA is full, other FLASH sections are still have space. I wonder if I can make some changes to the "cmd" file so that the whole program can fit into memory. But I do not know how to do it, can anyone experienced give some guidance?

Hi,

Try increasing the .text region: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C28x_Compiler_-_Understanding_Linking

Hi Guatam,

Thanks for the information. I did memory change for ".econst" as the option 2 and now it is built Ok. But I cannot quite understand the difference between option 2 and 3, can you give any explanation on this? Just to make sure that for change in option 2, Flash sectors added do not need to be contiguous as long as it is unused, right?

The first screenshot attached is my change and second one is the options on Wiki.

Correct and option 3 is simply appending data to the next sector as soon as the current sector is full.

Thanks for the explanation and I just noticed that I used option 3 instead of 2. Anyway, it worked well and I kind of know how to deal with similar issues later. Thanks a lot!
