TMDXIDDK379D micro usb

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDXIDDK379D, CONTROLSUITE

The part number that I ordered is TMDXIDDK379D but the box above would not accept it or the standalone control card either.  I would like to use the micro ab usb connector on this control card as a separate usb interface.  Is their a software example available to help me get started?  Are there risks of interference of the power on the usb from the computer interfering with the power supply on the board?

Thank you,

Waye Hunter

I am unclear what you are asking here.  Perhaps you can restate?

There are a number of good examples within controlSUITE to help you learn how to utilize the USB peripheral on the C2000 device:

There is no isolation between the USB-micro connector (which connects to the USB peripheral on the C2000 device) and the baseboard.   This means that if you want to run a motor and utilize the USB peripheral - you may need to take some steps to reduce risk to your computer.  I can think of two options:

    1. Use a USB isolator module to connect between your computer and the USB-micro connector on the controlCARD.
      and/or
    2. Evaluate and potentially edit the isolation scheme on the IDDK kit so that the C2000 chip is on the cold side (make the isolation boundary on the IDDK be between the inverter and the C2000 controlCARD.  Please read the IDDK documentation carefully if you want to do this.

If you aren't looking to run the USB peripheral and motor together, you should be able to only power the 12V-15V bus of the IDDK externally and utilize the USB peripheral examples within controlSUITE.  The IDDK documentation should be a helpful reference for this.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • There are two USB connectors on the board.  One is the mini USB used by the emulator.  The other is a micro USB currently unused.  I would like to use it for communication independent of the emulator.  I don't know any other way to state it.

  • Hi Wayne,

    OK, understood.

Then my responses to the other questions you posed should be able to help you move forward.

    Thank you,
