TMS320F28335: AUDIO IN EXAMPLE FOR PERIPHERAL EXPLORER KIT

Part Number: TMS320F28335
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hello,

I would like to know if anyone has solved the "line in" example for a peripheral explorer kit using the appropriate registers. The conections used in the example do not correspond to the peripheral explorer.

The example I am refering to can be seen in the following link

www.ti.com/.../litabsmultiplefilelist.tsp

Thank you and kind regards

  • Hi,

I'd recommend taking a look at the 2010 Teaching ROM which was designed to work with this kit.  This can be downloaded from the Peripheral Explorer kit product page:
    http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSPREX28335

Inside it you will find a number of helpful materials.  Specifically you could look at Chapter 13 & its Solution_13.  This software can work with the audio codec on the Peripheral Explorer.  The appnote that you referred to was used as a starting point for the example in the Teaching ROM.

    Hopefully this helps!

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Good morning,

In fact I was using that example from the teaching rom to see the registers configuration, but in that example the audio signal is generated by the 28335, not taken nor processed from an extern signal. I was wondering if there was any example available where it explains how to configure all the registers in order to take a signal from the "line in" input and process it to finally send it to the "headphone out" output of the peripheral explorer.

Also, any other documentation related to audio processing by means of a 320F28335 would be sincerely apreciated..

Thanks for your time and kind regards

  • Hi,

In addition to the Teaching ROM software, there is also a download called Peripheral Explorer Software 2.0.  This software was developed separate from the Teaching ROM, and touches a few extra things (namely both line-in and headphone-out).

Information on specific registers is probably best found within the AIC23 datasheet/documentation.

Note that the software may not be a great starting point (because there is a lot going on in the one project & the audio interfacing could probably be done better, but it could be used as a reference as you experiment.

C2000 devices have typically not found there way into a large number of audio applications, but we are used occasionally (being a DSP-ish MCU).  However, because of this, we haven't developed much specific documentation/information for audio applications.

The dsp and math libs found within controlSUITE may be another good thing to know about for this type of application:
    \controlSUITE\libs\

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi,

I have been trying to find the download called Peripheral Explorer Software 2.0 you told me about, but I could not find it. I find the content of the teaching ROM I already have instead searching with that name.

    Kind regards
