Starterware/TMDSPLCKITV4-CEN: How to use MAC mode or LMAC mode

Part Number: TMDSPLCKITV4-CEN

Tool/software: Starterware

Hello

We need to communicate TMDSPLCKIT4-CEN with another G3 device. It is easy to do on the PHY level. However, there is no convinient description for LMAC mode and MAC mode. TI_G3_host_msg.pdf describs how to send message using DATA TRANSFER, but it is described well only for the normal mode. We really do not need network layer in this stage of our project.

I use firmware versinon 7.7.1.6. F28PLC83PNT.

Please, help us. How to communicate using only MAC commands?

Georgy

  • hi Georgy,

what do you mean by MAC commands ?is it that you want to bypass the network layer ?

why do you want to bypass the network layer ?

don't you need any routing or any such features during communication ? no master / node modes ?

the mode you need is the LMAC but generally this is used with the data concentrator where the upper mac is taken care in linux .

    Regards.

  • Hi! Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I need to bypass network layer. I whant to do it because we need to communicate TI device with our own device. It has already have compatibility at PHY layer and we need making some scenarios at MAC layer.

So, we do not need routing. No master, no nodes.

I tried to use LMAC. I use "Send Raw Data" for it. I can move the device to different modes, change attributes, but I have not enough description of  DATA_TRANSFER.

We also see that macSecurityEnabled is RO and set "1". Is it possible not to use ciphering in LMAC?

    BR

    Georgy
